Chris Nelson, our PMA board Chairman, went to be with his Lord Jesus in his sleep on Sept. 24. Please pray for his family, son – Zach, sister – Julie, and mom -Junee. We are so thankful for Chris’ many years of service.
Chris Nelson grew up in a Christian home in north Seattle and accepted Christ as an 8-year-old boy when a kind neighbor pointed out that attending church and Sunday School was not enough, that a personal acceptance of Jesus Christ was the key to salvation. Chris grew up in the Lutheran Church but started going to a Grace Gospel Fellowship church in his mid-twenties. He went through a spiritual re-awakening in his early forties after his marriage dissolved. He got involved in a weekly Bible study with a group of very mature men and the Holy Spirit fully opened his heart and mind to the Grace message.
Chris heard about Prison Mission Association at this time and felt God’s leading him to be involved in this ministry, attending several PMA revivals at a Washington prison. He was on the PMA board for over ten years and deemed taking the grace message to prisoners as a vital ministry. Many of these souls have found themselves at the low point in their lives, and are looking for some way out of the abyss they find themselves in. They need to be introduced to Christ, his healing power, be taught how to rightly divide the Word of God, and understand the peace that passes all understanding!! What a blessed opportunity!!!
